To my fellow writers:
Feel free to write me with any further questions or comments at hhickam@hiwaay.net. I hope you will all keep writing. The literary marketplace is not easy and is, in fact, designed to appear absolutely unfriendly. But talent will out, as they say, so keep working. My best final advice is that often writers get fixated on one writing project and, even though it hasn't sold, they keep hammering at it. That's fine, I suppose, but walk away from such efforts at least for a while and go ahead and allow yourself to write something that may be more marketable. Every time you write something, you are learning how to be a better writer. That first big project, even though it took years to accomplish, may never sell. But what you learned doing it may allow you to much easier complete a second work that will be published.
Good luck and never, never give up. Remember my 3 P's of success: Passion, planning, and perseverance. They go together, a troika of triumph.
