Hi folk,
I hope this is the correct place to place this link??

I have been surfing the web a lot lately and I have found a writer's competition on a website called "I Publish Press".

I thought there might be other people on this site interested in knowing about this competition?

In a nutshell it's an international competition, open to anyone over 18 years of age. They are calling for novels, short story collections or long narrative poems to be submitted by February 28th, 2007. Entries can be submitted online and need a cover letter as well.

All the details can be found here:

A few months back I entered into talks with an ebook publisher on a partnership in hosting similar contests. My contact was interested, as they used to run a contest of their own. However, since I wanted to charge a fee, he was advized not to partner with us. When I heard the reasoning, I abandoned the idea, myself.

Charging a fee for such contests brands you as a scam. They say they found that out the hard way.

Now, having said that, I don't know anything about these people. In fact, they are looking for Junior Editors to edit manucripts before they are submitted to their (standard not the contest) service. Our writers with solid foundations in grammar and story might consider applying.

Yeah, when I mentioned this competition to another writer friend they said the same thing but this website is more than just one of the website where they ask for submissions and promised to publish your poem in an anthology and slug you a hefty price to buy a copy. This company seems like a legit publishing company so that's why I have passed on the info to a few friends and here online. I think it's there way of getting authors to take notice of them and I guess they have admin costs. It's a pity that the fee is a red flag to some people but I realise scammers have used this method too and hurt people in the process.

That's what made me take notice, is the fact they are advertising for editors and 'readers' of audio books too so they are more than 'just' a competition site.
